The brief was to develop an existing playground adjoining a second
level community college in the north inner city, into an all-weather
soccer pitch. The turf consists of Astroplay synthethic turf with
floodlighting designed to minimise light spillage in adjoining residential
areas.
Various synthetic carpet systems were considered. Astroplay was
chosen because it is specifically designed for soccer use. The lighting
system chosen consists of lamps with shrouds designed to reduce
the impact of light spillage. The fencing system chosen consists
of green plastic coated mesh fencing.
